Ok, it's time for a really dumb question. Is there a 1 inch oring somewhere on the barley crusher? The reason I ask is weird. I just finished a brew. While I was stirring my mash, there was a broken, thin oring in the mash. I pulled it out. It's about an inch in diameter, and it's thin and very flexible.

I'm pretty frugal so I like the Barley Crusher MaltMill and I use a 3/8" drill I bought at Harbor Freight to power the mill. I generally keep my gap at ″" or () but depending on the type of grain I'm using, I may have to make slight adjustments realtime.

You can sometimes get them on sale for 79 can't speak to a 3 roller but if money is no object get one or buy a 2 roller and a 55LB of good Pilsen Malt or Maris Otter and have fun making great beer. This picture shows the vast majority of the malt bill for 1 Hour IPA continuously hopped IPA. The malt bill for that is 13 lbs. The hopper is holding just under 12 lbs. 11 lbs 14 oz.
